Lausanne Sankey

This website provides an interactive data visualization that explores the correlation between educational level and recycling rates in Lausanne. Using a Sankey diagram, we illustrate how different education levels influence waste generation and recycling efficiency over time.

Introduction

How does the level of education in a city correlate with waste production?

This analysis examines the correlation between education levels and annual waste production across different cities. We use data from 2017 to 2022 on education, categorized by age groups and levels of attainment, ranging from no post-compulsory diploma to university degrees or higher qualifications. Additionally, we analyze waste production data, segmented by year and categorized into the "Big 5" waste types. By comparing these datasets, we aim to identify potential patterns and relationships, offering a data-driven perspective for further exploration.
